Prateek Dubey: Mirror

This picture was taken at Haridwar, a holy town for the Hindus, 220 km north of Delhi. River Ganges flows through the city. The place where people take a bath in the river ( to rid of their sins and otherwise) is called a 'ghat'. Water at this ghat is controlled, so at the time this picture was taken, the ghat was being cleaned and there was just this puddle of water. The brightly colored background is a reflection of temples. This woman is looking for coins thrown by devotees. I thought this picture is a 'reflection' ( pun intended) of the relationship of commerce, religion and needs of the poor which shows in this puddle...

Beautiful image. There is so much going on everywhere in it but it still, somehow, seems to take me back to her face. Very nice.

Outstanding image and explanation.

I'm not going to try and give an analysis as to why I like it. I'll just say you've got a great eye, Prateek, that shows up in all your work. Consistently good

Hi Prateek,
Another amazing image!
You possess a talent for capturing not only the event, but the almost undefinable emotion that surrounds the event.
Your images are magnificent!
