Moalboal: Minimalistic Seascapes

I tried to create a minimalistic approach for this set. I did these in monochrome to remove the distraction of colors and to give more emphasis on the composition.

I would like to learn more.

I like the symetry and 3D effect of #1. Were they shot in mono or converted from colour? If they were converted how did you do it? I only ask because it seems to me that 2 and 4 lack some mid-tone contrast, althought that may have been intended.

This were shot digitally. Conversion was done in Photoshop.
This was converted into black and white from the Lightness channel in LAB color mode.

Additional processing done was to adjust Curves for contrast and Dodging and Burning.
