Moose Brothers

These moose brothers are 2.5 years old. We've known of them and watched them (on occasion) since birth.
They were just playing on this day. They wrestled for a little while and then went back to eating!

We are out in the wild 4 or 5 days a week. We try to see these guys once a week. They are about to shed their antlers for the year (they grow back each year). They still had them last Monday!

We always pick them up when we find them. We collect a lot of white tail antlers, but moose are much harder to come by! They usually shed them in thick stuff - hard to see and find!

Are such antlers distinguishable from those gotten from animals shot by hunters? Are these also mounted and put on display in man-caves?

If they are found before they sit for a year, they look as if they were still on the animal. I know many individuals that have had them mounted on trophy boards and hang them on their wall. It is actually a cool way to do it - the animal was done with them, so cool if someone else can enjoy them! The trick is finding both antlers, they usually don't fall off at the same time! ; )

I personally don't do that, I just hunt them (antlers) for something to do - like an Easter egg hunt. I was a hunter when I was a kid, but haven't done it for 25 years - I practice shoot and release now (shoot with the camera and we both go home)!

Not slamming hunting, I just don't do it -
