MT Sunset

Hi. I went out last night to catch the sunset over the Beartooth Mountains. I was hoping for the same amount of clouds as the night before but no such luck. Exposed with a K10D, 16-50mm F/2.8, tripod, and cold fingers. Next time I'll try to get a little closer to the mountains. CC welcome.

While I was waiting a 747 went overhead and I couldn't resist.

Steve,

Thinks happens so fast at sunrise and sunset and it's not awaya possible to get a goos set of colors. When the are no clouds and little dust there are no partlcles to help deflect the suns rays. Also things change fast.

I am not a purist but opportunistic at times like this and would have no guilt trying to combine the trails of jet with te second image.

Have a try. You may be able to retrieve something. Also save your RAE files of sunset in a folder: Sunsets and study how mcuh improvemet you are making. It may be more convenient to simply go for sunrises and you might find a place near you where some trees or building or old decaying structure might be silhouetted yet bedinning to be revealed. What I'm saying is that sunsets and sunrise require scouting before hand and planning.

Keep trying,

Asher

Hi Steve,

Sometimes the simple things are best. I've passed over your sunset photos, but the 747, I've been wondering if it could get more simple, if it could be better composed differently, so on and so forth. I sort of think it could be a classic, odd why I should think so. Maybe it's the blue.

Best wishes,

Ray

Thanks Ray. I'm really happy with the 747 shot as well. One of the nice things about Montana this time of year is the crystal clear skies. I can look up and clearly see a jet that's 5 miles overhead!
