My Nightmare has a Pulse (Warning: Graphic Content)

I have a fear of going blind.
I think sight one of the most precious gifts of life, and it's natural to sometimes not even realize it and maybe even take it for granted.
As a photographer, I use visual images to get my point across, to show you what I want to show you. After all, a photo is worth a thousand words. Personally, I don't think I'd be able to live without being able to see.

And that's why I decided to create these photos.

Twiggy, Your message comes across very clearly with this image.

I completely relate to the fear...I don't think i could handle going blind either and had that fear even as a child... if I had to loose something important I'd rather be deaf or loose an arm or leg then my eyes... of course loosing your sense of smell/taste wouldn't be all that bad, if one really had a say, but it just doesn't even compare to the eyes... okay I'm done rambling now....

I appreciate the art
but it's overdone-
maybe something a bit more quite-
it is defintely a today piece for outrageous
and for that I give you kudos
but
its more than it should be-
like too much in your face-
I think more subtle would be stronger
btw-the title is very cool*
IMHO-

Charlotte-

I like the image. If I were to just see it without reading your explanation of what you were trying to say however, I am not sure if I would come up with the same understanding or realization of what you meant. It definitely is in your face and stark but to me it's not in a frightening way. It just feels more surreal than real and it seems to portray a completely different emotional situation than what might be first thought. The only thing that somewhat bothers me is the color of the blood. It does not look real and I want it to. I could easily see this on a book cover at Barne's and Noble:)

Interesting image. did you use two different paints in this? The red on the cloth is one shade and the paint on the face almost looks orange to me.

Twiggy,

I do like this image. There's no horror here, non at all. I see perfectly healthy looking young woman in setting of being wounded. We are in a society where the image of crucifixion is shown to people from infancy. There's no covering of the tormented imagery when kids go to church. We just know it's just a construction. Similarly we see here young woman but alive but trying to experience the margin between safety and death.

I'd like to see more work here and for you to discuss this further.

Thanks everyone. =)
Nope, everything was the same. I think it has something to do with the fact that I left the blood settle overnight on the bandgages.
Asher, I agree with that. I can see why someone might find this graphic, but there's a lot more graphic stuff out there.
