Well i got banned from another forum for posting pictures...Two things...My model pictures were not welcome there even though they were not in violation of any rules and the claim was i was posting pictures more for retail promotion of my work,my landscapes and sceenic stuff...Which i think is simply retarded cause forums like this spending the time trying to promote ones work like that the time would be better spent in a area where it would actually GET VIEWS...

Anyway...So with this new forum i will not be posting any images....Which i mean really what idiot goes to a PHOTOGRAPHY forum and post pictures, thats just stupid right?

As well i got in trouble for making threads...Again...What idiot goes to a FORUM and makes threads and post about things.Thats not what a forum is for...

So thats my bitch lol...Getting that out of the way....

So does anyone else here read Lens Work magazine?....To those who dont know it you can Google "Lens Work" ..Outstanding magazine....I live near the home base of the magazine and can get back issues right at the office...Its a outstanding magazine...I read that one and PDN....PDN is something like Photo District News...Something like that. One of my favorite magazines went under,JPEG...JPEG was awesome. And a Fine Art magazine called "Focus"....Theres still B&W...Most of the Popular Photography and ones like that are so basic you want to jump out of a window after a few minutes of reading it,kind of like this post of mine =O

I shoot with a Pentax......Many people here from the North West?

Erik, I think we are gonna' get along just fine.

I have had problems with people over on the Pentax User forum, man are they weird and cliquey there! If you mention anything against Pentax then they'll have a go at lynching you. What gets me though is that some of 'em are quick to criticise your images, but then don't give out any praise or comment otherwise.

I also shoot with a K20D.

Actually photos are encouraged here for not only critique but for inspiraton and education to all.

Welcome to OPF. Our big rule here is courtesy to everyone.

Hi Erik,

Here's the deal,

First, we're a community, so we nurture one another. When Kathy get's enough to pay the rent of her studio and books a new client, I feel our efforts paid off. When Bart tells us his invention for adjusting micro focus on new cameras, I'm blown away and take a bit of pride in our group. However, when we get photographs from Cem, one after the other with a thread of timelessness of portals, or Cedric Massoulier shares his philosphical images challenging challenging time or else Boher stuns us with a timeless portrait of Aleucine his challengingly iconic girlfriend, here in the evening window light, I experience something divine and so much more valuable. Ultimately we are after each person's path to excellence.

So your pictures, banned from other places, or landscapes you sell might well be welcome here. Show them to me in a PM and I'll give you feedback if that suits you. In general, no one is offensive here or takes offense since we set an example of openness and respect. People have real names. Many people cannot enter OPF because of behavior elsewhere. We filter all new registrants. Occasionally some flamer, spammer or miscreant gets through but they don't last more than 1 post. IOW, this is a pretty safe place for a wide vairety of styles and perspectives of real photographers.

I do not accept the idea of someone being "burnt out". Rather it's a stage in life were we need to collect our thoughts and find our compass again. Sharing your best photography in a safe place is such a way. If you put in that effort, it will pay off.

The overall rule here is courtesy, focus on the photograph, what it's for, how it's made, how it impresses you, ideas for further work and so forth. With no pictures, however, we're just a chatting group and that's not good enough. When Bobby or Frank shows a picture of a model for us and it's not responded to enough, I wince. That's where discussion must also be put. The deer, horned owl, flower, landscape, butterfly and more.

We cannot have a dinner party with no food!

Asher

................

Paul....Pentax Forum???...Well it is rare to find another Pentaxian...Some idiot told me if i wanted to be professional i'd have to switch to a Nikon or Canon...PPphhhh whatever....The K20D is a pretty solid camera and the 2.8 16-50 really nice glass...but most of my images 2007 to 2008 were shot with the Pentax *IST and the 5.6 18-55 which is a $100.00 lens.A set up i will take on any Nikon with,STILL......

I do everything people tell me i cant...Like I dont use photo shop CS I use Elements.I dont edit in layers. And all i do to my images when editing is adjust the shadows, bright and contrast, nothing more then is done to a negative in a dark room.I do adjust the saturation just a bit,not much.I am strictly against what i call photo shop art...THAT is not photography...

Thankyou Paul......

Hello Kathy and i think i know why you stressed just that rule.

Erik,

Private issues, even sad information is really outside the scope of OPF. OPF can help just with photography. I wish you well and will write to your privately but will close this thread so as to give the topic a rest. You're open to post your pictures.

However, OPF is not permitted to host discussions of a personal nature as we are not in any way equipped to deal with these problems and advice could therefore be misleading.

OPF is always generous and welcoming of a broad range of photographic subjects. That's where the forum always will try to be a positive influence.
