Wolfgang,

There's so much to like about this picture; the vase is simple but unusual and white, the shadow counterbalances the flower and the vase and then the flower adds color. I do wonder why you chose not to give us a fuller view of the flower? Are there other pictures where we can see the entire arrangement of petals? I'd love to hear your reasoning. It's certainly interesting and a challenge to our expectations.

As far as balance of the picture, I am intrigued by the possible value of more of the grey background to be added to extend the image to the right. Perhaps it might strengthen the composition.

Thanks for sharing,

Asher

It is exactly that:
"the vase is simple but unusual and white, the shadow counterbalances the flower and the vase and then the flower adds color."
And I like the somehow irritating impression of this composition.

I will give it a try.

Wolfgang,

There's great economy but yet richness in your seemingly simple compositions. I have an appetite for more!
