I have been invited to do a one man show at our local arts center this coming fall. The show will be a mix of cyanotypes, Salt, Pt/Pd and likely some Kallitypes and Van Dykes. I plan to have 50 pieces ranging in size (image size) from 8x10 to 13x19.
I'd love to do the whole show in Platinum/Palladium but it is terribly expensive. Negative, paper and chemicals, an 8x10 costs roughly $28.00 just to make. A 13x19 would be right up close to $70.00. Unless I win a lotto, it will be the mix.

So what do you imagine is the range of price you might set?

..and how much of an ache in your heart will you get to part with them?

I never lament the sale of an image...after all, I have the negative. In this market, given that I put up good saleable images, I am thinking in the range of $125 for an 8x10, $275 for a 9x12, $375 for a 11x 17 and $500 for a 13x19. If I can get someone to print larger negatives for me, I will try to make several 16x20 at $650. In Hollywood, these would sell for triple that or more but alas, I am in redneck country. Platinum/Palladium prints are archival for a 1,000 years or until the paper disintegrates.

I wonder whether I could print a negative for you on my fabulous wide format Canon printer? I have a Canon Promax Pro-1000.

It should be able to print negatives for Platinum , Palladium and other processes.

However the process requires baby steps to prevent waste of materials as the setup requires reading up and adjusting by trial settings recommended. There’s software to help but the final work personal adjusting like adding a tad of yellow which absorbs UV well for extended the dynamic range of density to 3.0 OD units.

I could look into that at least as a benefit for my range of knowledge. But I will check out the costs. I have to get new inks anyway!
