No James, I don't. I live in Setúbal 50 kilometer from Sintra to the South.
My home is more comfortable than this palace.

I know this just too well, been there with my wife and hand a look at its glory and amazing park around (as well as many other places in Sintra of course)!

I think it is a deposit of hot water.
I suppose it has not been there since the beginning but the tubes lead to the great and central stove.
