This is really old school! On the left, a 50 year old veteran Tilt-All tripod, one of the best ever made. On his head a label that is pealing off and most of his name badge covered, but still revealing "Mel".

This is a name hardly found today! Used to be quite popular amongst Jews in New York. I guess so many kids are being called Asher, the "Mel's declined!

So what's the story?

Hi Asher

I attended a large camera swap meet at a local community center and Mel had his franchise stand set up. A friend who is a professional photohog had a booth as well. He also had 8 x 10 a portrait done for $75.00 (Wet Plate Collodian process). I looked for some old Leica gear and browsed all of the booths.

Very impressive work, James. I am sure everyone was stimulated. This is an important part of photography ands allows one to change the way one looks at the entire process, from seeing to working with a developing image.
