The young Pileated Chicks fledged the other day. These were taken that morning

Eric, these are fantastic.
The little guys are complete cartoon caricatures. Mohawk rangas, too cool.

As you are a bird tragic, I'll share my story of the day. At work, a tiny eastern spinebill had got itself covered (I mean covered) in cobwebs. It struggled down to feed on a grevillea but looked to be really suffering. I managed to catch it and soothed it whilst trying to remove the cobwebs.
The poor little bugger could hardly see, it's bill was sealed shut (like a crocodile with its snout bound), its claws were bound tight. Anyway after a couple of minutes I'd wiped away the webs from its wings, bill, feet and face and placed it outside on a tasty looking banksia.

Minutes later it was frollicking happily.

Good job Andy.
