portable printer for travel photography?

Hello folks. Does anyone out there have any experience with tiny portable printers which run on battery power? Like the Canon Selphy CP730 or similar? We are going to Bali in September, and are thinking we might want to get one of these... something which can be thrown in a backpack (or kept in the rental car), then used in the field to quickly make a 4" x 6" color print to give to local people captured in a photo... kind of like a modern day digital polaroid... stick in a memory card (or connect directly to the camera) and out comes a small print. Quality doens't have to be amazing, of course.

Might be a good alternative to always forking out $ ?

Any hints? Suggested models?

Thanks very much,

I have one of those

I have one of those that I got for $49.00 as a free promotional thing bundled some how. It's made surprisingly well, but, I don't think I'd travel with it. I have enough stuff to cart around with a body, a few lenses and the rest of my belongings. As it is, we usually have to take an extra suitcase or are overweight. I am not one to travel light. If I threw a printer into the mix, my husband would make me carry all of the luggage or stay home - NOT!

Kathy-
Thanks for your reply. I agree that carting extra stuff around is not an ideal situation. However, I already travel with hundreds of pounds, already pay extra $, so this isn't a deal breaker.
Do you have the Selphy cp730? This model only weighs 2.1 pounds, and is 7" x 5.2" x 2.5" and with the battery it's about 3#. So, not very heavy.

It appears that some of the Selphy models are 5 pounds and almost twice the size. Maybe you have one of these models?

Regardless, how is the quality of a 4" x 6" print?

Much appreciated,

Decent

It's not bad - as good as an HP inkjet that I have that does nicely. I bought it in the bundle because I thought it might be nice to have if I wanted to do a promotion for a theatre charity I was involved with where I could shoot snapshots and print them with the price of the photo with a celebrity or cast member going to support the production. We ended up not doing the promotion so I have a ton of supplies and barely used it except to test out how it would work.
