I know a bit but not a lot in terms of both photography and printing...I have seen many referances to silver halide prints....
My thought, question would be that now in 2009 we have access to more, far more technology and materials for printing.....
In a Recent interview Jock Sturgis said that the high end Epson printers now print better then any, i believe he said hand transparancies.....He also said that our industry is littered with the bones of those who did not progress with the times an technology....Chuck Guildner this last year shut down his massive dark room and bought a digital camera and went to school at the local college for both his new digital and learning photo shop....
Getting back to what i was going to say is that...If i were to do my prints in silver halide i'd not have many of my images printed at all and the price would have to be much much higher on them. Its not something i can afford to do but i do get quality prints....
I get my prints printed on Fuji Crystal Archive which is rated at 100 year archival.....Its not Silver no...But does that make this a inferior product....My images have not gotten a complaint but perhaps would not be accepted by some who are still stuck in ways of old....If the print is archival...If its going to last a long, long, long time...And its a quality matter is'nt that whats inportant?.....
