In Perspective, Fun: Rather unusual shoot this weekend

But something there is definitely a market for at my local dog park. This lovely lady is a friend whose dog is aging and she wanted some pictures before he got too old. We picked a gorgeous azalea garden. How do you think they turned out? I really hope she will be happy with them.

But something there is definitely a market for at my local dog park. This lovely lady is a friend whose dog is aging and she wanted some pictures before he got too old. We picked a gorgeous azalea garden. How do you think they turned out? I really hope she will be happy with them.

You have done a good job. Yes framing is not always precise, but that is well compensated by the documenting of the heart of a happy grateful woman who has such affection for her aging dog. In one swoop you have gathered for her a basket of attachments and memories that will work for her as it does for us. The photographs are so informal and natural that we can imagine they are just spontaneous rests in an afternoon stroll and perhaps a picnic with friends.

The last picture, is most interesting as it shows the decaying building and the two of them so close, as if they realize that time is slipping away for their togetherness here.

I'm glad you took the extra effort of getting this last shot. It elevates the level of the shoot. I hope you will do more of this lady and her dog, even if she does not pay more. They are subjects that go well with your talent for making apple pies out of the right ingredients.

One idea to test, crop away the top to include a saucer-worth of her head too. That forces us to go from her to her dog more immediately. Of course, one could have the whole animal in each picture but you know that.

Thank you Asher. I love the idea that Becky and I made some apple pie today. I do struggle with framing, particularly when using the 135L (there we go again) and the 85 1.8 which I did today. I lean more and more towards primes, where of course composition is more challenging.

I guess part of what I need to do is slow down and look at composition more. I'm still in the early stage of photography where you're just trying to make sure you get a good exposure and your subject is more or less in the right place! It's time for me to move on. I'm ready.
