IMHO, animal predators don't kill, they hunt/ambush to feed. Humans kill, often only to dominate, sometime for food.

It is a beautiful animal and you captured it wonderfully. Can you tell me what kind it is? I'm just curious because it is so different in color than the rattlers I see here in Arizona. Where are you that it is already hitting -8 degrees?
