Elegant shot. I'm continually amazed at how you can find your subjects, especially the typically elusive Owls.

Hi Don,

Indeed, majestic birds, looking elegant. Well done Jaime.
But they are not to be underestimated when they have young ones in the nest.

The recipe for successful wildlife images, is to gain an understanding of the species and how they interact with their biotope. A long lens also helps ;)

I've spent several of my younger years in a place in the forests, and one learns to read the signs and traces that animals leave behind. Since they also follow certain proven to be successful paths to get food, it becomes easier to encounter them (with a relatively high probability), and observe and photograph them. Then a bit of luck will allow to 'shoot' them in a favourable pose.

Cheers,
Bart

Hi Bart,

I'm sure you're absolutely correct. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and never having been a hunter or 'outdoorsman', there are some serious gaps in my knowledge and experience!

Hi Don,

Experience is one thing, and I only hunted with a camera, but I also did read huge piles of books on the behavior of the various animals. I only wish I could have had the gear back then, that we have available today.

Cheers,
Bart
