I like this pair Doug, this was worrht the wait. What's the story about them. Are they in a sanctuary or wild? If the latter, then how did you get the picture?

This picture, BTW, is good for stock use and should have the © info in the IPTC code. The data fields are all empty. When pictures are this quality it's wonderful if they get lifted for use by Nestlé or some other huge company and you will ge rich! Very "Amaricana".

Besides it's obvious heradic look the composition is satisfying. The b.g. can always be anything.

Great shot Doug, well done.

The composition, which isn't always easy when dealing with wildlife, is also great.
Please share the details!

Very nice shot, Doug. I'd also be interested in the details about location, specs, etc.

This must be impressive at a larger size or print!

Eagles...

Hello Doug,

Very impressive pair of eagles here. I have honestly never seen such a powerful looking bird.

I believe also that these are endangered in the wild and it always amazes me how anyone could kill such an incredible bird...

Thanks,

Barry

Wow!!! What a great capture.

I believe also that these are endangered in the wild and it always amazes me how anyone could kill such an incredible bird...

The problem wasn't people killing them, but pesticides/insecticides making their egg shells weak.

The killing is usually indirect, through poisoning of the food chain or destruction of habitat. It's the cumulation of poison that often kills creatures with a smaller bodymass more readily than larger ones, like humans, but scientists are also starting to get worried.

I'm not a tree-hugger myself (although I do donate to several nature reserve foundations), but I do admire nature in all its facets, and Doug's image is a fine example of how beautiful it can be. All we can do is act responsibly and preserve our environment so we can enjoy it a bit longer.

These birds are so remarkable and I keep coming back to look at them. What magnificent creatures they are!

Bart,

Today I was reminded by a film background photographer (makes the huge canvasses used as backgrounds for the actors in movies like Batman etc) that vinyl continuously leaks out vinyl chloride chlorine, which is of course, toxic and in addition chlorine for ever. In many cases also there are the toxic pthallate Plasticizers that must be added to make PVC flexible.

Wait there's more! Also remember that Dioxins are produced in making the ubiquitous material.

Unfortunately, it's hardly worthwhile to recycle the stuff!

The good news: the move industry is changing over to large rolls of hemp! Now I want to know their source!

Doug,

How threatened are these birds in Alaska and do you have any more pictures from the shoot to share?

After a hard days flight

Doug,

another try is good....WHAT a pair!

From the looks of it, the sun appears to have been way down, so I assume it was early morning or rather late in the day, would that be right? I came to that thought by looking at the white feathers.

Asher is right, you gotta protect such shots for your own sake. Would love to hear a little bit about the circumstances and how you came across them. This picture should have 5 Stars and be in your perosnal Hall of fame best of all times list. Just superb!
