Film: Scenes from Hungary, 1984

I think I am finally getting the hang of my new Coolscan 500 ED film scanner and will now go over previous scanned images shown in this forum and scan them finer. This is really cool and shows the smoothness of film grain. I love it.

This was shot in March 1984 in Szekesfehervar, Hungary with my Pentax LX and 50mm 1.4 on local black and white Fortepan 200 ASA film - as good as anything from Ilford or Kodak but less than a tenth of the price

and the second one is of my cousin. We had stopped on the road to see this man (farmer) with his horses and cart. The picture speaks for itself. Also shot on Fortepan 200

Hi, Nigel,

Igen jó !

Best regards,

Doug

köszönöm! Doug.

My natural father escaped from Szekesfehervar during the revolution in 1956 and came to England where he met my mother. I lost contact with him after the age of three as his second wife made it difficult for him to connect with his past (we forget how hard things were for people only 40 years ago in so many ways), and I only saw him again on a couple of occasions briefly before he died in 2004, however his mother and family in Hungary did keep in touch with me throughout the years and I will be sharing some pictures of them shortly

The first picture speaks to me of the tough and rough times of that era. In stark contrast, the second
photo shows us that certain feelings are shared across and by most people.

Love the first one as it resonates with me more.

Best.

Thank you Fahim. I actually added two more above after your comments as I was in the middle of posting when you commented and was planning to come back and add others from the same set, but the scanning takes a long time if you are scanning fine. They kind of tie it together a bit and tell the story a bit of the farmer and my little cousin.

Here is another of my young cousin taken on another occasion during that trip in March 1984. I thought I would post here rather than start a new thread
