Fahim,

I've never been to Skye but there's a song we sang in school and I have sung many times to my children and grandchildren! It's quite beautiful.

Do you know the song, "Speed Bonnie boat" Here's some samples bagpipes and voice and flute?and nice pictures with this one!

Skye is the homeland of the Maccrimmons -- legendary pipers to the chief of the Clan MacLeod.

I'd love to go there some day and play my pipes.

I think this is sometimes referred to as "The Skye Boat Song".

I have heard this tune. Last we were there, we got a set of cds, and I am sure this tune was on it.

Is this your photograph or does the credit go to your rising star supporter? I'd like to know since I try to relate work to look for styles and trends. You show a lot of mountains, but could there be a designation Fahim/Aisha?

A beautiful photo of the Black Cuillin. Alas I've never seen them - on every occasion I've visited Skye I've been lucky to see across the road, let alone a 1000m mountain range.

If not the best, at the very top of our favorite places, is Scotland. Really lovely.
For me Edinburgh is the best city there is..period.

That is castle Eilean Donan, but it's usually photographed from the other vantage point -- looking down the causeway. I love this vantage point, because it puts the mountains in the background, especially with the snow. From the other side, you mainly have the lake behind it. I'm picturing a 17th century raiding party climbing over those mountains -- probably with just a bit of leather wrapped around their feet.

The last time I was in Scotland was about 1984 -- this castle was one of the most memorable aspects of the journey.

Hi Fahim (and Bob),

As Bob said, that view of the castle is much more dramatic than the usual 'chocolate box' one.

The building we see now was rebuilt in the early 1900s after the original was destroyed in 1715. You can read about its history here. You may notice that it's the seat of the Clan MacRae. Well, my father was Scottish, so you never know................

Just back from the Outer Hebrides - North Uist and Harris - and spent part of a day on Skye. Then we fled the crowds via the Kylerhea ferry to a quiet part of the mainland. The mountains, as Fahim shows, are spectacular and serious (the Cuillins in particular)

A nice series Fahim.
