Having no idea where he actually is or why he does this, Some Guy in South Dakota has joined the Open Photography Forums.
Dawnne Gee, a recent (2004) transplant from Southern California (Ventura County) joined the forums several nights ago after much lurking on several professional forums. He is a full-time freelancer specializing in weddings, environmental portraiture, and sports, exclusively using Nikon digital equipment. He's been shooting for around sixteen years, but having recently turned forty, really doesn't care to keep counting anymore. Dawnne participates here as well as "The Unmentionable Forum", the DAM forum, Adobe user forums, and on several political blogs (under an assumed nome-du-keyboard).
To answer the questions that are frequently asked, Dawnne is neither female nor Oriental. He simply had hippy parents with a penchant for extra "n's", and Gee is a truncated Scottish thing. Being American, Dawnne is still unsure as to whether or not truncated Scottsmen are allowed to wear kilts. Luckily, it's normally too cold and windy for that kind of stuff in South Dakota, anyway....
Dawnne is an avid software tester, and infrequent writer for the The Graphics Report. For you gamers in the crowd, Dawnne is one of the lead beta-testers for Turner Broadcasting's GameTap, and also moderates their beta forums. You can visit his deplorably-maintained website at your own risk. Most of the content there is from a couple of years ago, and Dawnne is actively seeking someone to help bring it up to date. With a couple of children, two cats, and his head in two different businesses, Dawnne recently realized that some of the small-but-important things in life have begun to slip. That's also his motivation for participating on this forum: He woke up the other day and realized that he'd been remiss in keeping current with trends, techniques and several software updates.
"Go figure," I told him, then realized I was talking to myself and really shouldn't be doing that.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. Thanks for your time.
