Daniel Perez: Still Life - Seahorse

Oceano, CA 2012

4x5 Arca-Swiss, 150mm 5.6 Symmar-S Schneider lens, Illford Delta 100
Slightly cropped, bronze toned in CS3

This one was from the Per Volquartz Memorial Gathering that we (LFPF) had last month in Oceano, CA. This is the first still life I have made with a camera. It's never really been my thing, but I enjoyed it and I will try to do more of them.

This is a great treat to see a still life from the Per Volquartz workshop in Pismo beach. Also thanks for helping tidy up!!

The seahorse is aan amazing creature in itself, with the male carrying the offspring!

I like the background of this white rock as it gives a nice contrast. I'm surpised how detailed the dried creature can be!

Exposure looks good, and I like the contrast from the black background and the white rock and then the seahorse. But not sold on the angle of the camera...maybe try standing the piece up? Or shoot straight down on the subject....Over all a good shot though.
