A distinctive image with such brilliant silver to subdued dark tones. That sunlight fights its way through rolling layers of clouds at the horizon! The two blue masses of water on the left cause the eye to stop and check the balancing mass on the left while the figure on the right puts everything into perfect balance again. A very well observed and framed scene. It will work in B&W too, but you must have already tried that.

Yes, that is a very overbearing and dramatic sky. So does this stormy weather sky make us think of our lot in life, or we just enjoy the spectacle? Certainly sunny days make one happy and rain can be a downer.

But then there's Singing in the Rain!
