More boxes with cloth sides

Here shooting in the back lot of our local botanical garden, are plants wrapped in cloth boxes, more sukkot (I counted 14 around this building) and a building under construction, also wrapped in what looks like similar cloth. Overall,

The plants in boxes are labelled as a "Plant Diversity Research Area," but I don't know any more than that.

Another year, same block

I see that I haven't posted these for a few years now. Our kids are getting too old (one is on a brief SoCal adventure before returning to start army service), but the block party happens on schedule. Here are a few shots shortly after sundown...

Using an M[240] this time (previous posts were with M9 and M8, earliest with Olympus E-1) with 28 Summilux 1.4. All shots taken at f/1.4 ISO 1600, and color corrected down to 800K to remove the sodium lighting.

Wonderful to hear from you again, at last!

How do folk know that no cars will arrive?

Still it's great to see everything stop and all the little people come out like goblins!

Only police cars and ambulances are on the streets for emergencies -- I saw one ambulance come through in an hour. The newpapers like to print pictures of bicyclists on the freeway, but I prefer the block party scene. Ben Gurion airport is totally closed for about 48 hours...
