Brilliantly simple art!

The snow adds bleakness!

How do they manage such a place?

Do they have a string of 30 “Curators” to supervise this massive 10 ft wide winding tunnel?

Here this would be either the lovers lane or be taken over by the homeless!

Asher, it really is an amazing place/piece of art. Info stand at the location stated it is kept in natural state, apart from events when the place is scrubbed and polished to suit the occasion. Unfortunately local youth seems to have found it and use it for self expression. In other words, messing the concrete surfaces.

A structure like this would be a perfect place for folk living with parents to find a spot to put down a blanket with a lover!

it has no windows and no art inside. It needs to be combined with an aquarium so there can be hundreds of visitors so it’s a public place with gift shops, restaurants kid places to play and more receptive to families!

I fearedvot would be abused!

Very sad!

No, like a science museum!

If one sets the tone, then folk behave accordingly.

One can’t simply make a 10’ diameter concrete tube snaking for 630 ft, without risking vandalism or becoming a gang or narcotics hangout!

There has to be planning and community buy in and need for about 30-50 employees to serve the public as curators, tour leaders, guides and security!

As it is, it’s like a far more pleasant esthetic form of the gross remnants of equally extensive but ugly and terrifying concrete bunkers from World War I and II found all over Europe! All have in common desolation and abandonment by society, no matter what plaques glorify their historical or noble worth!

I do agree with people not respecting public space (which this particular case is) being a bummer. At the same time it is great to have such a fascinating piece of art subjected not only to nature but to the public, too. Up and Under is nowhere near a larger city. Instead, it is set in a rural area. Some might evev say it is in the middle of nowhere.
