I put this here because the flash is what made it work... This is a captive animal that was shot in broad daylight outside ... I used a ton if high speed flash and a fast SS to achieve this effect.

There was not masking in post production.

Comments and suggestions welcome.

Cheers, joe

Beautiful shot.

Hard to believe that in broad daylight, ISO 800, f/2.8, 1/250 sec, there wouldn't be any visible background from the ambient light exposure.

What am I missing here?

Best regards,

Doug

Agree - great shot, but that exif data would suggest it should be overexposed in daylight. Please explain

Cheers

No overexposure because of the high speed flash as he mentioned, however, as noted by Doug, I would expect some ambient light with that exposure in "broad daylight outside". Anyway, the end result is impressive, very good.

Thanks for the comment.... It is as simple as using a ton of fast snooted flash.. I think I was +3 in flash compensation on my SB-800....and underexposing the camera a bit.

This was shot on a overcast day but it was broad daylight. I do play with shadow/hightlight and levels in CS3.

Here are a few more examples..... All three taken in daylight and a ton of fast flash.

Cheers, joe
