The picture that was 2010 for you and why

Just an idea I've seen around.

Post one picture which opitimizes your approach to photography and art in general in 2010, the image which would describe your vision in this year.

I'm posting this image, not that it was the first of my 'Dream Project' but because it is everything I was trying to accomplish with the project. After years of chasing detail in prints this was the year I decided enough was enough, bought a lensbaby with a single uncoated lens optic and started shooting the feel of my surroundings. Incredibly liberating.

Now your turn guys, show the image that best describes your journey through the art of photography in 2010!

2010 for me

Well, I'm still trying to get all the detail I can, but I spent some time exploring older cameras and older styles of more formal photography. I love looking at old time photographs of families posing multiple generations very seriously for posterity, so I tried to get some of this feeling on a recent Saturday when my immediate family was gathered at our house for dinner. I set up camera and tripod, arranged comfortable seats for the older generation and this was the result:

Unfortunately, I don't have a self-timer for this camera, so I turned over the cable release to our newest photographer, and got in the picture. I'm afraid that things got a little out of hand:

Anyway, 2010 has been a good year for our family, everyone healthy and getting along fine. I wish the same for all the other OPF regulars in the coming year...

A year of change for me.

A new addition to the family means less time for landscape photography, but with her wonderful captivating and inquisitive eyes I'm not complaining! A move to full-frame as well upgrading from 20D to 5D MkII - enjoying the transition and the results.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all,

Just because it was some kind of "scoop" and just because it means my settling here in Brighton, This one:

Eyjafjallajokull ashes on the west pier at Sunset - unedited

No art though, It just means something to me
two things actually: Brighton and the eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano in iceland and the ashes falling on the west pier...

Ben,

things happen that seem very important and relevant - then in time they find there place outside of the hyper-reality we find our-selfs confronted with.. Nice thread and images of different types... Heres mine - My 1st exposure from my camera
