Fahim,

Of course this is delightful. No C&C is requested, but allow me to salute some interesting compositional mechanics that seem to me to be working here a wonderful way. :)

There's something of the nature of a "pivot" in this picture. Sometimes one might say, of an image like this, crop the foreground waters and we can enjoy the picture with the sky dominant. Or we can alternatively crop 1/2 of the sky to bring out attention down and include all the water. So, there might be a huge temptation to crop. Especially when one sees that the major angles meeting in the center 2/3 would not be altered and the massive cloud pulling us in from the right would be still so strong even if the upper half was cropped away.

Fahim mohammed: The sun Appeared Briefly

Your picture, however, does not need either surgery; it has it's own natural pivot! We at first see the entire scene. Then, either the top, or else the lower portions, command our full attention. What happens is that our eyes transfer gaze, alternating from one to another as the balance is perfect. So I call this a perfect pivot! No cropping wanted here. As I said at the onset, "A delight!" An added bonus of keeping the entire scene is the feeling that and observer might be looking down on this precious place. For that esthetic to remain, one could remove 1/2 of the sky but the extra glorious expanse of water is essential and really adds a lot to the picture.

Asher, thank you.

I would like to take this opportunity to say something about Asher.

The comment he made to my post; it takes time, thought and effort. Asher, as most of us must notice, has been providing us with his advice/suggestions consistently. That he does such to many many many posts is something for which I, at least, salute him.

Asher does deserve our thanks and appreciation for the time he puts in for us on the forum.

Thank you Asher.

p.s that he often delves into the metaphysical, I take as remnants of his days staring at MRI and CAT scans!

To Fahim and Asher, this is a lively Forum and I am glad I discovered it. But old time photographers like me always included a little brief with each photo along with the camera used, the lens, aperture, shutter, ISO etc.
What a wonder full gift to the young and old photographer - kind of completes the picture and the "sharing" or passing of knowledge to the world is a great gift.

Hi Bipin, let me welcome you to OPF.

I ask, what purpose does that serve?

Thousands of photographers carrying GPS equipment march to Yosemite. Stand at the exact spot that Ansel stood. And what?

It would be more helpful to share knowledge of vision, composition, process and related issues.
Technical details are the least important to me. They are all formed as I raise the camera to my eye.
Sometimes I know what I want to do beforehand. Mostly it is on the spot.

All this does not guarantee that I shall have a ' good ' capture. It is just the mechanics of how I do it.

Once again, welcome to the forum.

Regards.

p.s OPF has both female and male photographers. Equally talented.
