Cheers,

I really like the shot. He's hardly ugly though Cem. You have made him beautiful. Besides, he doesn't look like he really cares what anyone thinks.

Cem, be afraid... he's not!
Indeed!

...That 17mm again?..
Yes, the EF 17-40mm L f4, set at 17 mm on the 5DII.

James so nice to hear from you again. How is life treating you, I hope all is well? Re. the cat, you are absolutely right. He sits there all day long and hundreds of people (some with their dogs) pass by and he doesn't mind anybody or anything a single bit. He is ubercool in that sense.

Cheers,

Hi Cem,

Eyes of this cat are really intense ! It almost seems to be unreal, like a kind of puppet. Contrast with two women quietly chatting in the backgroung is strong. I like strong and fresh colors too.

Regards,

Cedric.

Hi Cedric,

I have waited for the women to enter into the frame before taking the picture, they are a part of the composition as you've realized. The eyes of the cat are fierce. Here is a 100% crop :).

Hi Cem,

Effective use of the 14mm on a full 24x36mm sensor array. It almost gives the cat a 3D sensation of potentially coming at you, but then with cats you never know (except around feeding time ;-)). Off-center placement of the cat is also well done.

Cheers,

Hi Bart,

Thanks for the comments. I have decided to leave the barrel distortion of the 17mm (see the side of the table for instance) uncorrected in this picture as it makes the "presence" of the cat a bit stronger. Eventually, what counts is that no animals were hurt in the making of this picture, lol.

Cheers,

I am doing very well and enjoying the new chapter in life, thanks for asking. I hope you are in a wonderful place as well. The crop of the cat is wonderful too. Such character. Cats have always fascinated me with their coolness and the complete control of their surroundings. Their faces say it all. They are the supreme ruler in their world and that's all there is to it. If he is always around, I would like to see more of this great model.
