You've captured the simple joy of the innocence of youngsters who've not the faintest notions of the harsh unforgiving nature of life. There,s no way to permanently keep these visions and presences in our minds, except through story telling and pictures like this. When these are done well, as you've done here, they transcend being your nephews and nieces and resonate with all of us who's memories slip through our fingers like fine dry sand at the beach.

Let me tell you something about these images and my grandson.
He lived in Setubal, Portugal until he was 1 and a half year old. Then, my son's family moved to US and there he (we) went.
Since then and when I am with the family, I have been taking (and printing) pictures of my grandson which are collected inside a box.
It is an A5 box I have offered when they made their move. On the front, the text states that day's date, his age and the place the photo was taken. All in color.
The box contains selected photographs I've been taking when I am with him. Kind of legacy for the future from the distant grandparent. It's "only" 9.000kms away !

Antonio, that's a wonderful idea. I do something similar with my kids. I make them a picture book that I hand them on their 10th birthday. First 10 years and so on... something they do not appreciate at the age of 10 but surely when they grow older.
