Just for Fun No C&C will be given: Unusual clouds over Weatherford, Texas

This cloud formation was seen to the south from our home in Weatherford, Texas as a thunderstorm approached:

They are part of a reported area-wide display of mammocumulus clouds, so named become the descending pouches of the classical form were thought to be reminiscent of cows' udders.

Here, we do not see the pouches so clearly, as the formation was mature and the pouches had coalesced, leading to some unique patterns of a different sort.

We had some of those over lake Michigan preceding a storm last spring. They are quite unusual, indeed. This is a good application for time-lapsed photography, or compressed video, as the undulations of the clouds makes the scene even more striking. (Like the view from inside a cellulite-laden thigh.)

BTW, when you say "mammocumulus" up here you ain't talkin' about clouds.

Superb image, Doug,

Soon you may have to throw away the slide rule and graph paper with this and the animals you are photographing! This is remarkable. I hope you have more. What a great and handsome sky!

That looks way too menacing for my liking...I would have been petrified. That sight, would have probably triggered me in to running towards my tornado bunker.
Oh... and a great capture Dough, well done indeed.

Hi, Fahim,

It's a lie, I tell you. Just like telling simple folks that men have landed on the moon!

Awesome painting Doug!
In fact Carla's observation on seeing the scene was that it looked as if it had been painted by a movie background painter for some fantastic film!

Best regards,

Doug

Fantastic image! I have to admit there is something vaguely terrifying about those clouds, though; it sort of looks like the opening scene to Stephen King movie or something.
