Walking around

I doubt that any

Certainly but why would that help? As apparently Jim doesn't have a tripod to set the camera…

A so noisy image, Jim (as I have several times already said) should avoid any ISO higher than 800!

Nicolas,

That’s a 70-300 Sigma, which at 300 mm unfortunately goes down to f 5.6.

@ Jim

1. Use aperture priority only set to 5.6

2. Set the ISO to 800

3. Speed is whatever it is.

Some blur on the wings in poor light, perhaps, but a perfect exposure of the head is the worthy payback!!

Asher
I do have a very nice old Albinar Model # 123-900 tripod that I picked up from Goodwill 6 months ago.

As for the high ISO, I was just playing around with stopping the wings on the hummingbird.
It's not a big deal. Next I'm going to go to a little park here in town and shoot the small waterfall.
Just seeing what my new camera will do. I have only had it since last month.

I had to go to the dermatologist to have a small cancer removed today & took this pano from the parking lot.
I love this little town, it's so pretty. It snowed again last night (just on the mountain).

I guess I'm now the unofficial photographer for the Olympic Peninsula Rat Racer's Facebook group. I posted some pictures & they took one of them and are now using it for the group cover photo.

When I saw it I did a little edit & sent the new one to the Admin of the group.

Looking out the back door at work today waiting for the truck to back down the ramp
Fabulous location.

This is such a simple but fabulous scene and worth investing for just commanding this array of bright values with contrasting patterns inherent in snow-covered slopes and billowing clouds! Perhaps use portrait orientation and get more of the view either side, underexposing a stop or else bracket each exposure around -1 EV

The key here is that the snow and clouds are potentially such magnificent partners. They have very different forms. The clouds are endless soft intermixing myriads of spheres, shaded and transilluminated by the sunlight.

By contrast, the jagged snow-capped slopes of the mountains simply reflect that complex open blue and diffuse white skylight from above!

But given the extraordinary high dynamic range of the scene, good exposure is a challenge even for professionals with the best gear.

So there is need to leverage special but easy techniques to get the potentially very wide range of subtle whites and bright greys.
You also could go there after dawn and before sunset!

Yes, the iPhone is so easy to use and seductive. Still, you Canon Camera is capable of bracketing and meeting the challenge of this awfully great photography opportunity. You have clearly scouted out a great future location. Right now the open access to the snow caps are going to deliver opportunities to photograph the panorama that’s blocked from your home!

I have a Google Pixel 3 (don't like iPhones) but my camera in my phone is 12 MP so it works very well.

Lars is amazing!

His outstretched arms stilled the angry waves!

Mind over matter!

The green hair might have helped too!

Asher
Lars got a kick out of your comment.
He needs to get on here & comment, but with on-line school, things are interesting.

I tried another attempt at shooting the moon but I had a few to many margaritas  :ROFLMAO:
There was also a little bit of cloud cover. I'm sure that's why the ring around the moon.
If it is clearer tonight, I may try again.

My wife and I went out for a drive today. The beaches & parks here are open again, so I brought my camera.
Got some shots of a wind surfer.

When we drove to the next beach area & my wife saw this eagle.

I commend you him for having a wife to drive with and take such pictures with new your camera set up. That investment is paying g off for us so we’ll. It’s worth spending more time. I wish you had a tripod for these shots. This is increasingly better work and I personally am thrilled with your rapid climb in achievements!

Thanks for sharing.

Amazing to have an eagle pose for you! Get many more!
