One of the most unique entrances to a book store that I have seen. A massive art piece probably 20 feet high or more, created with the ends of stacked books. The left wall had a similar style creation, but I did not photograph it. This is inside one of the building in historic Mexico City
Uploading the photo to AI, provided me with a few more details about this bookstore.
“Yes! The bookstore in your photo is Librería Porrúa, a well-known Mexican bookstore chain. This particular branch is located near the Templo Mayor ruins in Mexico City’s historic center. It’s famous not just for its extensive collection of books, but also for its creative displays—like the one in your image, where books are arranged to resemble a face.
The Centro Histórico location is especially popular with both locals and tourists because of its proximity to cultural landmarks like the Zócalo, Palacio Nacional, and Catedral Metropolitana. The store often features literary events and has a strong focus on Mexican literature and history, making it a fitting stop after exploring the nearby ruins.
If you’re wandering through the Centro, it’s definitely worth stepping inside—whether you’re hunting for a good read or just soaking in the atmosphere. Want help finding other hidden gems in that area?“
