We all get old

While visiting a friends business, I saw a group of bikers taking a rest next door. This guy seemed to be leading the discussion.

Marshall Everett: We All Get Old

He has an obvious look of rough and tough, but I started to chuckle when I saw the reading glasses. I am playing with textures and have added a background layer. It seems to have created a 3D effect, at least to me.

Enjoy!

Hi Marshall,

I like the portrait but I am also curious about the original bg. I am not too sure about what you have replaced it with; whether it is an improvement or not.

Cheers,

Cheers,

The actual BG has not been changed, I just converted it to B&W then added the texture. Then, with a mask, I brushed the texture and the B&W away to bring the definition of this guy back out.

Thank you both for the comments. ---- Marshall

I like the picture of the guy - the dark eyes are absolutely as intended:)

The background looks as though he's sitting in front of a big poster to me - certainly he pops from it, if that was intended.

cheers

Hi,

A great shot and a good idea for the background : it was risky but you well managed it !

Cedric.

Thanks Ced and Mike - At 200mm and a very small f/stop, the background becomes very flat. The background is a truck with large racing type tires and rims on it. All we see in this shot is the tire and wheel, along with the fender and bumper. For such a quick shot, I think it came out fairly well. I hear that he is a local, ,maybe I can catch him again at take more time.
