What is wrong with me?

I have an AF auto Aperture, Auto Speed, 4 lens 645 set up that includes a digital back.

Why is it that I'm thinking that I want to have something like this?

There are two probable reasons, one is that this is the best time to own whatever we want from film era. And, this is -for me- the one model that I wanted and couldn't have.

I like the chrome ones, and they have this lens and body in chrome, but isn't this a beauty?

My plan would be to get the 120 Mackro since it could be a nice portrait lens w/out the problem of Hasselblad other lenses that don't let you get too close to your subject, and the 50mm f4 and forget the 80mm for now.

This setup is $1500, but I think that with patience I could spend less.

I wonder if 120 film will exist in the future... worst case scenario .... a very old P25 V. mount

Question. Is 501 cm better? I' not familiar with Hasselblad rig

The other question is... Am I crazy?

You're not crazy at all. For low volume work, this is a great option for getting large files of high quality. Unlike using LF, the scanner has to be pretty good. But the lenses are excellent so you will get fantastic files.

When I say low volume work, I mean no 500 shots at a wedding to be shown to the bride's mother 3 days later. That's a lot of pressure to be scanning all that, unless the lab does it with the processing. That can work to get the initial images inexpensively, scanning the whole roll and then going back and picking say 20 to scan with greater precision and care.

I am using a Bronica SQ, the poor brother of the 'Blads and the lenses are also superb. They can be obtained for much less through KEH.

I was thinkin to let the work to the Mamiya and use the Hasselblad for travel. To take it to places I don't want to go with my working equipment. The 6x6 is light since it has the waist level finder, I only need a few rolls and my lightmeter, mabe a small tripod. I could take it to a salty beach or a really dangerous location -like Washington DC-. Shoot cNegs and wait to go to NY where I can rent the Imacon at MyOwnColor Lab... I could thenuse the keepers as stock or print cPrints..
I could use it in tandom with my D300 system.

Cem ... you do think I'm crazy. ?

I blame David Loubser and Ian Sitren. I was thinking of a Mamiya 7ii, but they're still expensive. A shop near me has an RZ with a 120 lens for £250gbp and I'm tempted. The only restraint is that I don't have a scanner suitable yet.

So, your not crazy, just enjoying the times

Mike

Hey, look at this, I found this in the bid description that could be me:

"This was my grandfathers he bought it in the 70's he didn't use his camera's very much he just like having them. This lens is in Very excellent condition...."

He likes having a HASSELBLAD ! Can we call this a syndrom ?

Ohh, you got the syndrome? It is a smart design, with bellows and tilt/shift... but. I'm not getting it for work, but exclusively for sexapeal, and that is personal, I want to have the most classic of all MF. I think that the list of unique classics could be like this:

Deardorff 8x10
GRAFLEX 4x5 reflex
Hasselblad
Rolleiflex TLR
Leica
Mamiya RZ

Probably I forgot something and someone will tell me so...

I bought my SL66 brand new in the late 60's. At the time I had a Yashica TLR. I traded that for a motorcycle after I bought the SL66. I've got two backs, the 80mm and a 250mm Rollei lens. I got the Rollei instead of Hassy because of the focal plane shutter and the bellows. Both the 80 and the 250 will mount on the camera backwards with no adapters. Plus with the focal plane shutter I can put almost any lens I want on it. I have a 75mm and 105mm Polaroid lens that came from a copy camera. For a while I used a 150mm from an old Graflex mono rail 4x5.. until I sold that. I am waiting for the SL3003 to arrive.. The USPS tracker says it's still in San Francisco customs office. I always wanted a SL2000/3000 to go with the SL66. Thought they would look really good in an aluminum case together. Interchangeable backs on a 35mm would be great. + my Canon A1 died again and I need a 35mm slr. I have a T mount and a M42 adapter ordered for the SL3000, so I can use some other odd lens I have laying about. I was reading a web page today about QBM mount lens and at some point in time Rollei made an adapter to put SL66 lenses on a SL35/2000/3000. Now that would be cool. At some point I need (want) a nice Rollei TLR. My SL66 is built like a brick-- no batteries to die and there is nothing like the mirror slap of a nice 6x6 SLR. Great sound.

I had the Mamiya twin lens reflex and 4 lenses when I couldn't afford another 6x6, I got a second body and raised the focusing glass and attached -with black photo tape- a Polaroid back. It was probably the only Polaroid TLR...

I made an 8x10 camera, and now I'm finishing the strangest prototype -I should post some images- of a thing that uses 4x5 lenses and focuses with a real motorcycle chain (the one that moves the valves)...

My father had a Bronica with Nikkor lenses that I used a bit, but the best was the Graflex that he gave me, I used to do a series of urban landscape photos in Tokyo that was shown at Fujifilm Pro Salon in Ginza -I shot 4x5 Velvia transparencies-

With this one I went to war -literally-

I got it !

US $601.50 FREE SHIPPING

I think it is a good deal, I wanted a chrome lens, --I wnated, or want the 50mmZEISS DISTAGON, but it will have to wait-- but I was also attracted to black 100%metal old design lenses. I think I could have gotten the set up in $500 getting all the pieces, but I wanted to get my camera all in one, and it may even be a good price, what do you think?

ps
I saw on the biding history that someone bid $600 so that my extra $1.50 was what gave me the camera

Leonardo,

This is amazing value for the money! I wish you a lot of pleasure! I am still loyal to my poor man's Hassy, my Bronica SQ!

Thanks, I didn't know you had a Bronica, one of the reasons I wanted this is because of my father's Bronica 6x6. He had a bunch of Nikkor lenses and I got to use it a bit.

I will keep you posted about it when I get it, but it will probably be in July since It will be going to New York and I will got here in my way to Nicaragua for summer vacation. I will take the NIKONOS and that there for some beach landscape photography.

This camera could be good for shooting at the indigenous markets here in Bolivia and for traveling. I have to solve the scanning problem...

update on my Hasselblad crazy quest...

diss2.jpg

I got a Hasselblad Distagon Carl Zeizz 50mm black T* for guess how much...

$265.10

The paint is faded, but the glass is clear of fungus, scratch or dust...

I want to get me the smaller Pelican case that would accommodate the camera, (with the 80mm) and this lens plus film and meter. I wonder how small that would be.

I will probably get to New York at the end of July and get this for my trip to Nicaragua where I want to take it to the beach and do rock, surf and sand landscape photography.

What do you recommend e6 or cNeg? I think cNegs would be the most practical, then give the film to a lab for process only and scanning later...
