Why have I been away for so long ?

Time passes in a hurry...
I have not been here but for brief moments to make a one line commentary.
My mind and efforts have been away... deeply inserted in thoughts and work of a new project with the photographers community of this country.
I have with success launched the Project 33 Year I - 2016 - Setúbal, Portugal.

Sorry if it is in Portuguese. But for those who speak Spanish it is not hard to understand.
The project is summarized as:

"This photographic project is an idea of Ariset's group of photography that has been implemented carried out and dynamized by Antonio Correia with a set of 11 lectures every third Thursday, every month. The events take place at José Afonso's room in "Casa da Cultura de Setúbal", with free admission.
Invited photographers lecture and work will be exhibited yearly not only locally, but also outside.
A book with 4 images by each guest is also to be launched then."

Now that things have come to a lower point of activity, I hope to be able to drop by and be part - again - of the active group of people of this forum.

Congratulations, my dear friend Antonio! This is superb. You need one more esteemed member, and that is your very talented and well travelled wife. She has a special affinity for scenes of life and structure. There's no discussion here, she must join you, even though in her natural modesty Luisa doesn't accept complements easilly and will tend to allow others to shine.

Explain the name of the group. Why 33?

Interesting. So you have a photographer giving a lecture every month in 2016? Can we have an idea of the themes of the individual conferences?

Great to see you back Antonio.
Your absence is excused.

Careful though, James Lemon is trying to assert himself as the incumbent B+W portrait specialist (apologies to Robet Watcher! and others).

WTF??!!! Andy

For the record I am a street photographer that just happens to like taking pictures of people .Sometimes I will even walk into their yard and up on to a porch to get a picture. I don't specialize in portrait work. But I think its time to move on from this forum and share my pictures somewhere else. Its just something I like to do with my free time.

Thank you all ! :)
It is really great to be part of this community ! :)
The name Project 33 is the one I decided to use. Why 33 ?
The lectures goes every third - first 3 - Tuesday - second 3 - of each month.
Tuesday in Portuguese is Terça-feira like... third-fair. Now you understand where the 33 came from.

The lectures ar to beheld every month except August when the audience would be too small if not absent.

The lectures so far have been quite crowded. OK. You can laugh now because the best we could gather so far was just 29 people. For you, it may be nothing or near nothing. But here it is already pretty good.

I have invited 6 persons from outside Setubal. I am already planning 2017. I am trying to talk to other groups around here so they can get in.
I am making the selection and I trying to maintain a good quality level.

I... well... I am doing the work all alone. So, don't get astonished if I mention myself that often.

I am wishing to publish a book. Unfortunately, I will not publish the book on Blurb because it would be too expensive. Trying in Lisbon or even in Setúbal at far lower price.
I wanted to make "print on demand". Very difficult but I am trying to go around this difficulty.

I am giving - yes, offering - the guests 6 envelopes/folios with 5 images each.
I offer the folios and I get one back with 5 images inside. The other folios... they can do whatever they wish with them. That is my profit !

The exhibition is - I hope - something I will have a lot of work with. Several small difficulties not necessary to mention.
Money involved ? No. Except a small amount of my own like ordering the folios and some leaflets.
Publicity ? yes: Facebook, Flickr, social media as far as I can do.

The big question is: what do I get from all this ?
I get people to see my work and invite me to similar ideas. I can even be invited for an exhibition...
Well... I hope !! :)

Below, the "crowd" on the March reunion. Here are some of the images from Claudio Rosa.

All in jest James.
It was a compliment too.

Do go and have a look at other forums but do stay on here, you would definitely be missed.

And if you do go to other forums it'll be nice for about a week, lots of praise for your images then you'll probably get bored and get sick of wading through the dross to find a decent thread.

Stay!

Maggie, Maggie!

So you already heard about the group?

Asher

Yes, Antonio had published it on Social Media but since I didn't see his name on it, I thought he was just letting others know about the event in his town and not actually hosting it. I think it's pretty darn cool!

Way to go, Antonio!
