Jaime Johnson: Elk Bull, down but not out!
Well, we were back in Yellowstone this past weekend. During our visit, we spend lots of time glassing for game. Lisa spotted some antlers in the sage brush about a half mile away (up a ridge). We decided to hike up to the elk and get some pictures. As we approached the elk, I noticed it's head was down. Elk rarely have their head down. I noticed this was the same bull that we had photographed a few weeks back (and is featured in the Yellowstone Elk picture). I was saddened to see he had fallen victim to the wolves... I turned to my wife and said "Damn Wolves" aloud... then, to our surprise, he lifted his head and looked back at me! Turns out he was fine... just sleeping really soundly...
