Like most of my prints of late in the alternative style (Cyanotype, Platinum, Salt or Kallitype), this one is 7" x 9." I did just finish a platinum at 10" x 14," but the cost of the chemistry gets quite pretty hefty. For a comparison: the chemistry for a platinum print for this same image at the same size costs: $14.42 as compared to a Cyanotype at the cost of about $4.00...then there is the paper @8x10 is $2.10 per sheet, the negative film @ $1.44 each and lastly, though not terribly expensive, are the developing, clearing and fixing chemicals which add about $1.00 per 8x10. Total chemistry/paper and film for one 8x10 comes to about $17.96. Many of the developing chemicals are reusable for many, many moons with proper replenishment. For a 10x14, the cost per print almost doubles. The formula is 7x9=56 divided by 2 (28) and again by 2 (14 per) then there is some dickering as to proportions. I generally use 13 drops Ferric Oxalate, 12 drops PD#3, 3 Na2 and one drop of Tween (an emulsifier).

Ancillary costs: My brushes, one per process only are $100.07ea, my developing trays, one set of 3 per process range from $90.00 to $270.00 (9x12, 11x14, 16x20), my exposure unit. Contamination is a real issue thus all the separate items per process. I have well over $4,000 in my dark (dim) room sans the chemistry, paper, etc... and then there is the computer and editing programs and the printer, water, electricity...and on and on and on... This is not an inexpensive hobby but damn, it sure is fun!
