Murray,

These are extraordinar. Your work is outstanding. You might add a helpful introduction as those who study history in the USA, mostly focus on America whereas England thinks Agincourt and Oliver Cromwell are the keys to understanding our culture whereas the French feel that the Effel Tower is the true center of civilization!

However a few here may not realize that Muslim rulers expanded their power to much of southern Spain!

So an introduction to Alhambra power would be welcome and your brilliant and mesmerizing collection of photographs merits that extra kindness!

Thanks heaps Asher. Well, they briefly got to central France as well until they were defeated by Charles Martel at the Battle of Poitiers in 732.

However, these posts are not in isolation. There are seven previous posts on Andalusia (Southern Spain), from Granada to Cordoba (the Mesquita) to Malaga to Cabo de Gato and back to Granada (the Alhambra), most of which focus on historical architecture and landscapes. I also have probably six posts on Barcelona to go and some mono posts. (One comes our each week).

I have my main account on the history of the region in the post on Medina Azahara (a 10th century palace near Cordoba).

Also, I have an account of some megalithic history on my account of the Antequera Dolmens.

Kudos for consolidating links to your extraordinary oevres.

How did you get to plan such a journey?

Asher

Lots of research, guide books, online information and general knowledge. For Uzbekistan, I found a good local tour company; for most other places I hired a car and if possible avoided staying in hotels. I used Google maps to plan a route with all points of interests and accommodation so everything was pre-programmed on my car GPS.
