Might you use a thin close up ring in a case like this or are you already too close?

Asher

The lens can reach x2 - i.e. the macro is 2:1 rather than 1:1 so using a close up ring is not really needed, though the lens will take further magnification without excessive refraction. I don't think I was as far as 2:1 for this, though it is cropped.
