In 2009 (how the time files!) Carla and I took a brief cruse to the Bahamas (out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida) on an interesting ship, the
Bahamas Celebration. It had at one time been in a service in which the passengers' cars were taken along, and it has two lower decks equipped for that. At a later time in its life, it had been used to carry goods trucks in parallel with the passenger service.
It was substantially smaller than many of the "mainline" cruise ships,. but it was in excellent condition, very comfortable and the service was excellent. We often fondly call it "the barge". It sailed from a small terminal in Port Lauderdale, with a parking garage nearby and very convenient access.

On a day trip, we visited the Atlantis Hotel and Resort on Paradise Island, the Bahamas. It was exquisite.
