Butterfly Wings

Butterfly Wings is from my Flora collection and was composed at the Aiken County Historical Museum in Aiken, SC. I saw a familiar pattern in my mind's eye upon seeing these wandering Jew petals.

These lovely Tradescantia, better known as “Spiderwort” or “Indian Paint” are popular as beautiful houseplants in Europe and the USA.... but invasive in South Africa and New Zealand.

It flowers rarely and is effective as good looking ground cover that grows even in the shade.

The nodes in the stem have meristems and propagate with new roots readily.

Steven Dillon: Butterfly Wings

Lucky find! Never seen such an arrangement. Also, it takes some care to capture the flowers like this as the adjacent leaves in that stem, often can almost enclose them!

Thanks for sharing!
