This is a mainly black species. The female however (as this is) has a broad pale band across the otherwise dark antennae.

I have (as far as I know) never seen one before in the garden - so always nice to see a new ichneumonid wasp!

Beautiful pictures of a handsome Ichneumonid. For all their elegance it was this family of wasps that caused the famous naturalist Charles Darwin to seriously doubt the existence of God.
