First trial…

FYI, and may be Nicolas does not know it yet, Sinar will send him very soon a Sinar arTec for him to make some nice shots.

I am looking forward to get some fantastic images, but please Nicolas, don't take them from the helicopter!

Best regards,
Thierry

Hi Thierry,

This is excellent news! I would like to be next to Nicolas when he hears the news so that I could capture his expression, LOL.

Cheers,

Sorry Cem, but I was aware for long time, just read the intro of this thread…
After having done some intensive tests of the Hy6 for fast moving action, Sinar has proposed to Nicolas Claris to show the New "arTec" Sinar Architecture Camera capabilities for shooting interiors of yachts…

But still, you should have been beside me when I read Thierry's confirmation yesterday on… my iPhone!

And yes it's a great news…! at least for me ;-)

Nicolas, Go for it, just think of the new perspective the arTec will give you. Thierry will not mind a little salt spray on it.

Be sure and post a shot from the chopper. :)

Hi Bill
Of course I will! I take Thierry's pray for an enouragement;-)!

There are two reasons:
1st because it is out of the way the camera has been thought for, and I'm kinda provocator…
2nd, I want to direct that Rodenstock 23 mm toward a yacht (sailing or motoring) at full speed!

BUT
of course I'll mostly try to challenge the camera, tilting/shifting… stitching in yacht interiors…

Hi Thierry

I had no doubt on that!

But to have you completely informed, the real danger in a chopper isn't the salt ar sea spray (very few and rare) but to have the camera or one piece of it falling down into the sea…

The other danger is to have the all lot (camera; photog, pilot and 'flying' machine) to fall into the sea :-(
In that case, you may still ask the rescue divers to get the CF card back, they may be some keepers on it :)

Hi Nicolas,

yes, that's true, I have been "there" with Rainer, when shooting the Bangkok airport: we at least did not have the see below, so more easy to find the CF card after the crash!

Thierry

Nicolas,

This is the greatest news. Like you are having an early holiday gift, so to speak. So many tens of thousands thousands of man-hours went into that camera. It has the heritage of all the XY rotating back architecture camera Rainer ever used and that's a lot. This represents a lot of hard work and the final result is for sure an interesting camera to have time to use. So here although I'm jealous, I'm happy for you Nicolas and know you'll use it so well.

That's it, Nicolas, you will be the specialist for shooting of boats and plane, water and air: would be nice to have some shots of the cockpit taken with this new 23mm HR, wouldn't it?
Thierry,

I'm so happy for Nicolas that he can test this wonderful new camera.

Could you tell us how this camera is positioned versus competition, IOW, what is provided in this camera that is found in other like cameras and what is unique to the ArTec?

I'll be glad! get the plane and… the Rodenstock 23mm as Lorenz is sending me *only* a 28mm… LoL

Well, I believe Rainer would be much more suited (and a little less biased) then myself to write about this, but I'll give it a try.

As you know, or may be not, the Sinar arTec was designed and constructed under the "strict" advices and "control" of a photographer who is specialized in architecture, interiors and landscape photography, namely Rainer Viertlböck.

Rainer is not only producing stunning images, but the most important for us was that he has worked with ALL cameras available (or not longer available) in the market, being it view cameras, MF cameras, SLRs or DSLRs, as well as all digital backs in the market. And this since many years. It has given him a huge experience of what each gear can do and what are its shortcomings or what features these cameras are missing.

The idea from the very beginning, when having decided to design and produce such a new view camera, was to not make any compromise in respect to Rainer's ideas and suggestions. And there was effectively and truly no compromise made, not a single one.

The result of this very fruitful cooperation is this camera, the Sinar arTec. What makes it different to any other product used for architecture, interiors or landscape photography, is that it has all the necessary features one needs when shooting in these fields. There is no need to buy e.g. an optional sliding adapter, when needed, it is there. Same with the tilt AND swing functions, it is built-in and an integral part of the camera. No other such camera has it all: some are missing the sliding adapter, some are missing the tilt/swing functions, some both, some are missing other features, etc ... Not so with the arTec camera: all functions and possibilities are part of this camera.

Beside all the necessary functions available, the Sinar know-how to build cameras can be seen in its finish and when using it: it is well made, solid and practical in use.

I will not enumerate all the technical data for this camera, it can be found on Sinar's webpage here:

http://www.sinarcameras.com/site/index__gast-e-2019-50-2158.html

& here:

http://www.sinarcameras.com/site/index__gast-e-2034-23-2173.html

and the corresponding product brochure here:

http://www.sinarcameras.com/site/index__gast-e-1072-24-1154-urlvars-rand-168.html

Any questions are welcome.

Best regards,
Thierry

Excellent!

As I haven't seen this post earlier, it makes a second Christmas night for me!

Happy new year!

No problem for the 23mm, as soon as it is available and when I have got my own one: I will gladly hand it over to you, if Sinar doesn't.

as for the plane ...!

Kind regards,
Thierry

Hi Nicolas,

If any 'translation' to your kind of phototography is required, please don't hesitate to discuss (either in private or public). I'm quite comfortable in both types of photography.

Happy new year, indeed.

Thanks Bart!
That's another Xmas gift!
And I surely will use it :)

For now I wait for the beast to leave from Switzerland, Sinar didn't want to take the risk that the "box" could be lost with all xmas gifts during delivery…

Happy new year to you to!
