What’s the story about finding them and why are they so accepting of you?

Thanks to my wife who is a very visual person and can spot a moose camouflaged a 100 yards into the forest sitting in the passenger seat, while putting on make-up traveling a 130 kilometer's an hour down a gravel road. She spotted one by the side of the road we stopped and it turns out the place is a mecca for photohogs. They also do not flush every time a human approaches or drives past. The great grey owl often remains still even if a human is nearby and therefore they are often overlooked or unnoticed.
