Lol ... it's much colder here at about 4300 feet above sea level .

If we want snow we can go to the mountains, Aspen or Colorado. Great skiing when I was younger. My grandchildren don’t ski, the surfboard, LOL!

I have three garages but cant fit all of my vehicles into them because I need some room for other things. Such as bicycles, power washer, snow blower, leaf blower, some may have a lawn mower as well . So yes they do park outside .

Henry Ford’s Influence

• The "Accidental" Garage: In 1896, Ford built his first car, the Quadricycle, in a shed behind his home. When it was finished, it was too large to fit through the door, so he famously knocked out a brick wall to get it out, inadvertently creating what many consider the first home "garage".
• Mass Adoption: By mass-producing the Model T, Ford made cars affordable for the average person. This created a sudden, massive demand for vehicle storage, leading homeowners to repurpose old carriage houses or build new standalone structures.
• The Move Inside the House

  • Architectural Invention: Architect Frank Lloyd Wright is often credited with being the first to advocate for integrating the garage into the house's footprint, treating the automobile as a "room of its own" rather than a stable.
  • 1940s–1950s: Integrated garages became the standard in post-World War II suburban housing. By 1941, many new homes featured direct entry from the garage into the house.
  • 1960s: By this time, the garage had expanded to account for nearly 45% of a typical home's square footage.

The driveway forms part of the entrance to the home so people have a legal obligation to keep it safe as possible for the general public be it delivery persons or imagine someone at home had a medical emergency and medics need access with a stretcher or something ? The roadway gets compacted with snow and ice when under freezing conditions even though it gets plowed by the cities snow removal equipment. The levy forms part of the Highland Valley and is about 4 kilometres away . Follow the brown line on the attached map.

Remnants of Glaciation​

Mamit Lake Road climbs steadily, gaining about 300 metres before levelling off somewhat near Eight Mile Road. You may catch glimpses of Guichon Creek in the valley bottom to the west. The U-shape of the valley is a bit intriguing, as are the occasional eskers that can be seen as elongated hills on the valley floor near kilometre 25. Both are remnants of the last ice age that melted some 10 to 12,000 years ago

So what looked like a levy is a moraine. Thank you. I looked up the valley satellite map and it is clearer to me now. I found similar houses south of Logan Lake.
