Anne & I spontaneously felt like heading out for a little trip at noon yesterday. Knowing that Niagara Falls is only a 3 hour trip, we checked online for a place to stay the night. We found we could get a great deal on a room, when booking last minute - - - - instead of $200 for the night, our room was $79.

It is bitter cold, but we brought along coats and sweaters to see the two sets of falls lit up at night. I made use of Live Composite mode on my Olympus camera, to run some long exposures that blended any highlights and colours.

Before it got dark, we checked out the view down the river at the Whirlpool. Some nice fall colours and a few people were riding across in the Aero Car.

Wonderful pictures, Robert! I didn't know they lit up the falls at night. The very first picture is really glorious. Wow!

How fabulous that you got a room so cheaply, I guess 75.00 for the night makes them way happier than 0.00 for the night. Which it would have been otherwise.

I see the water is so choppy and it looks so cold. It's a good thing that just getting dressed well keeps you warm; I have a difficult time with really cold weather; I know, I know, I'm not living in the right place for this problem!

Oh, this one too, for me, is so impressive. Really gives context to the size and power of the falls. Incredible!
