Richard Wright dies at 65...

I hadn't realised that Syd Barrett had moved on. I listened to the Floyd a lot in my earlier years.

And then there were three.

Truly the finest musicians of that genre and era. From The Division Bell on they never put a foot wrong. I read somewhere that Dark Side of the Moon remained consistently in Billboard's top-200 album charts for 23 years. And now people listen to hiphop and rap ...

According to folk-lore, the band shared a house together. One Sunday morning Syd announced that he was "popping down the shop for some f*gs", and never came back.
I suspect the truth is somewhat more complicated.

"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" was written by Roger Waters, Richard Wright and David Gilmour and recorded on the 1975 album Wish You Were Here. Syd was the Crazy Diamond.

He spent the rest of his life as a recluse, living with his sister Rosemary in Cambridge. Apparently he developed an interest in gardening (although perhaps we shouldn't ask what he grew :) ).

Edit: f*gs is as close as OPF will allow me to get to the popular slang for cigarettes.
