Robert,

You and s. E have traveled widely in each area walking the streets and markets, socializing g and recording the shakes colors and faces.

The bright colored carefully composed and painted boards on windows, and the awaking atmosphere of use of alive colors creates a unique uplifting atmosphere.

This must have evoked recognition long ago!

Do you know if any articles or discussion of the origins and evolution of this powerful, seemingly ethnic and perhaps local defined but unconscious embedded meme in all societies in South America we call, “Hispanic”, whether or not, in actuality it is related to the colonization of that continent by Spain or not?

…and is it present in the same of a different idiom in Portuguese speaking South American areas?

On Saturday Anne and I moved to an apartment that is right in the heart of downtown Tulum Centro, from our first location that was in a quieter part of the city, but required a 20 to 30 minute walk to get to the more active central. So nice now to be able to step outside our front gate and have everything accessible - including interacting with people. And it’s nice with the heat to be able pop out for short stints several times a day and return to freshen up or rest. This little downtown studio apartment also includes a hidden gem of a small jungle setting on the rooftop to relax and take in the gentle breeze or to lay out in the golden sun.

Robert,

This is powerful! I enjoy your work!

Although anyone walking around there would capture color of the place, (in both the scenes of people and colors of everything being so rich), you add experience of decades of professional high-powered well crafted composition, always excluding distractions!

Kudos,

Asher

Anne and I headed out our door for a 3km stroll along the blocks by our apartment this morning. I ended with 351 photos of people working and other activities on the streets. This lifestyle is my comfort zone for capturing hundreds of storytelling images.

Stone masons Juan Carlos and Leonardo (Divinci 😉) work working hard on a new renovation. They agreed to stop and pose for me.

These public works workers always surprise me as they cut and splice in a maze of wires, while standing on a ladder supported by a fellow checking his phone at the base.

This man was insistent that we enter his store. Have t9 be carefully as a lot of what might look authentic, is made in Chinese

This young fellow saw that we were hot, and stopped to sell his coco drink. We said “another time” and off he went
