Shadows of the model show likely she was lit with a main light but the bg is self illuminated has scant detail and looks synthetic.

So I asked Goigle Gemini to check my suspicions thst thr bg was created by a generstivecfill with a text command.

“The main subject (the person) is very realistic and well-rendered, which suggests they are from a real photograph. The background, however, displays the classic artifacts of a generative AI image that struggles to render logical, complex, and intentional details in areas that are not the main focal point.”

So while the bg is a fabulous idea, it doesn’t reach the level of quality deserved by the model herself!

Hi, Asher,

A very clever reply by the AI 'bot regarding the background, but it is completely off the mark. That background is a (human) painted mural on a building.

As to whether the mural is of a quality befitting the model, that sot of thing is beyond me.

Best regards,

Doug

@ Doug,

I appreciate your good memory in being able to correct my assumptions on how this picture by Will Thompson came to be!

In this circumstance, the quality of the bg does indeed fit the model!

…… and knowing the bg was painted on bricks brings everything together perfectly.

@ Will,

So looking at this image anew, I must congratulate you, Will on a superb composition, where you positioned your lovely model perfectly to naturally fit with the impressively painted artwork on that wall.

Then you positioned your camera to catch it all at a very satisfying and dramatic angle that united the elements creatively.

Kudos!

Asher
