Feeding Family Of Five

I discovered that these noisy skinny birds are pests!

“As agricultural pests, they have a ravenous appetite for tomatoes, melons, beans, and radishes and can ravage a small garden in short order.”

Being skinny they are disfavored by hunters! How’s that for natural selection!

Personally, I wouldn’t feed them if they are going to ravage your neighbors subsistence backyard food garden!

But they are cute!

Where did to read that? They occupy a limited range in Colombia and are considered endemic. Hadn't heard of them being described as pests anywhere.

That bird is all over South America and makes the same cackle and eats the same food just have variations in coloring.

They are recognized as pests for humans habitations, essentially like flying rats but not apparently spreaders if disease. They just like fresh produce!

But one can’t help liking how they look
